Today I have made a Google drawing of what Matariki is about.
For this task I had to make matariki work using pixels and colours it was very fun and easy to make.
Today for Samoan language week a group of 10 people (including me) made Pani Popo and it took quite a while to make but the end result was amazing and delicious.
Today for HALS we played a game called Tails and basically you had a Velcro strip and tag and we had to try to snatch as many tags from the other players and whoever gets the most wins.
This week we have started to learn about algebra and the way you solve it is basically trying to find a rule for the equation for example if 1=7 2=12 3=17 it’s obvious that you need to add 5 after each number but the rule would be 5xn+2.
Shark Attack Q&A:
Q) The orientation of any narrative is crucial. What details has the author provided to orient the reader about who, what & where?
A) The title gives you a picture about where the setting of the story is and one of the characters’ names is Toby, as you can tell from the start of the story.
Q)What is the problem or the conflict in the story? Think of another conflict or problem the narrator would have to solve.
A)The problem was that there was a Shark circling around him.
Q)How old do you think the narrator is? Why do you think he or she was chosen for the role?
A) I think the narrator maybe around 11-13 at the time? I think he was chosen for the role because it’s more like a children’s story/book.
Q)Why do you think this is an action-adventure narrative? Explain your reason.
A ) Because the story is about someone surfing and getting chased by a shark and so that person is trying to get away from the shark and that’s a dramatic and action-like story.
Q)From the text, write 3 adjectives and nouns they are describing. Come up with your own 3 pairs of adjectives + nouns.
A) ?
Q)Describe the setting. Invent a setting that you think would be better or more appropriate – such as a sinking vessel, a deserted island or a fishing boat.
A) The setting was a beach maybe a little far in the ocean because you won’t find sharks close to the shore. And I’m not really sure if I would change the setting of the story because it already seems fine enough.
Q)How was the problem resolved in the story? Do you think it was a good resolution? Why or why not?
A) They didn’t really solve the problem they basically just swam/surfed away from their problem??
On Samoan language week we did Samoan art and this is what I have created:
Here is the Turtle and Shark story retold by me.
